Little visitors at SAKK

SAKK has been involved in educational efforts to help people understand what blogs are and how to use them. While Chris and I were at the office last week, Nob and Kaminogoya-san had a mini-seminar for a group of elementary school students. As Nob explained what a blog is, Kaminogoya-san inputted the students' responses and created a newspaper right there for them. They all got to take out a printed version, and when they first saw the print, you could see their eyes light up once they understood how easy it was to publish!

Scenes from the SAKK office: Chris prepping for his talk, the Taco party thereafter, Nob's talk to the ProNet community, Chris's family visit, and lots from Tesla's 5 minute visit.

Last time Tesla visited SAKK, she was more of a cute lump. Big difference!

This is from one night when I put Tesla to bed and read her a Miffy book in Japanese. She just wasn't sleepy...and I was able to capture her love for the Miffy book.

Some mornings, when I'm getting ready and need Dav to watch Tesla, I find he actually does stuff with her vs. just watching. I love it.

Here, he got her dancing...and we had a great time.

In the 2nd video, you'll hear her "gokshi" word which means milk or cup, according to her. She found a mug I got for Dav with T's pictures on it. I thought she was looking at herself, but as you can see, she was pointing to herself holding her milk cup. So in Teslaese,  BA is pillow, and GOKSHI is milk or cup.

Eating

It can be quite amusing to watch her eat. She's quite skilled at picking out what she likes, while perfectly leaving what she dislikes. The mystery is that her likes and dislikes shift daily. I swear, yesterday, she loved peas...

This is from last week, but I hosted a baby shower for Nathalie. Everyone brought a dish, and my gosh, we had so many sweets, all homemade!

Going to Tokyo without Tesla was my first time. It wasn't easy, as I worried about and missed T (I missed Dav too, but I can email him). I was quite happy that both Chris and Michael missed their families dearly too. We huddled together and shared.

A lot has been going on - we're preparing to head to Buenos Aires for March - and it's a bit hectic. But for now, the most important thing to me is seeing Tesla being herself...and seeing daddy being such a great daddy.

Although leaving can be hard, the coming back, and awareness of what you have daily makes it all worth it.

Goodcrew
Goodcrew

Here are snippets from the SAKK party on our last day. First is a video of Good Crew, a duo that won the OtoRebo - Sound Revolution contest that uses Movable Type. They were voted as best and got a record deal!

Second video is a "how's it going" practice session. When a group of us were talking about English, I explained that the "how's it going" question really only means "hello" and does not require an answer. This is one phrase that I still just don't get. So to emphasize the weirdness, I had Yuji say "how's it going" while walking right past : )
